Georgetown Rolls Past Towson 78-46

Hoya center Joshua Smith and Head Coach John Thompson III go over adjustments

By Cardell Dudley

In front of a crowd full of Hoyas fans, Georgetown never threaten, cruised to a 78-46 victory over visiting Towson University. The Hoyas (5-2) fresh off of two hard fought losses to Wisconsin and Butler came in looking to right the ship and right the ship they did. D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera scored a game high 16 points (4-6 FG/2-2 3FG/6-6 FT) to lead the Hoyas while Joshua Smith (12 points/7 rebounds) was a force in the paint that Towson simply had no answer for. Senior guard Jabril Trawick added 11 points and the Hoya's freshman standouts Paul White and Isaac Copeland contributed 11 and 10 points respectively. The Hoyas shot 55% from the field while also hitting 50% (11-22) from 3-point range. White was especially impressive, coming off the bench to knock down 3 of 4 from behind the arc which included three triples in a row. As impressive as Georgetown was shooting the ball, Towson was the complete opposite. The Tigers (7-2) shot 41% for the game and missed all 12 of their 3-pointers which ended up being the difference in the game. Towson guards Four McGlynn and John Davis led the Tigers with 10 points each. Georgetown will take on Kansas Wednesday at the Verizon Center while Towson will hit the road looking for victory at Temple.
