    It was an excitement filled Smith Center with the Colonial faithful packing the arena as George Washington men's basketball hosted crosstown foe Howard in their home opener. Those in attendance got their money's worth.     WASHINGTON D.C. - It was the Colonial faithful first glimpse at George Washington under first year head coach Jamion Christian and GW didn't disappoint, blowing out Hood College 83-55 in a balanced attack. Freshman point guard Jameer Nelson Jr (pictured above) posted a game high 20 points and 6 assist, junior guard Maceo Jack added 17 points and sophomore forward Mezie Offurum contributed 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assist.     Sophomore point guard Jair Bolden was on his game, scoring 21 points on 8-13 FG In the Colonials first game action of the 17-18 season, they impressed with a 86-63 win over D-II power Fairmont State. Senior forward Yuta Watanabe (21 points and 11 rebounds) and sophomore point guard Jair Bolden (21 points) led an efficient GW attack that saw the Colonials shoot 52.5 percent from the field, 50 percent from three and 76 percent from the line for the game.     Yuta Watanabe finished with an efficient 14 point, 4 assist effort but his defense stole the show George Washington returned home for the first time in three weeks to host dangerous Davidson in a key conference battle.
