Beal, Bryant huge in Wizards triple OT victory over Suns

It took three extra periods, but the Washington Wizards beat the Phoenix Suns 149-146 last night at Capital One Arena. Bradley Beal (Pictured Above) had his first career triple double with 40 points, 11 rebounds, and 15 assists. Thomas Bryant had a career night as well with a perfect night from the field (14-of-14). He finished with 31 points and 13 rebounds. The Suns were paced by Devin Booker's 33 points, TJ Warren's 28 and a 26 point, 17 rebound performance by rookie Deand

Irving, Wall duel as Boston outlasts Washington in OT

Kyrie Irving and John Wall were sensational in overtime. Boston started the period on a 7-1 run, but as had been the case most of the night, Washington responded. Kelly Oubre hit a triple to give the Wizards a 121-120 lead with 1:33 left. Irving hit two free throws as Boston regained the lead, but Markieff Morris scored for Washington. Down one and heavily guarded by Wall, Kyrie hit a very tough three pointer over John in front of the Boston bench. Wall responded with another

    Wizards vs Blazers Observations

After a 2-1 record to begin their five game homestand, Washington walked into Sunday evening’s match-up with the 10-5 Blazers optimistic that they would come out of top. A big reason for that optimism was their improved defense in their two wins where they brought a winning effort and won the rebounding battle. That winning effort was nonexistent for much of Washington’s 119-109 loss to Portland, in fact, it was the same effort that has the Wizards in the big hole they are cu

Defense fuels Washington in win over New York

For one night at least, the Washington Wizards play on the defensive end led them to a 108-95 victory. On the surface it was against the New York Knicks, but under Fizdale they play extremely hard and don't quit. Two things that Washington does not do consistently on both ends. Otto Porter was ruled out with a toe injury and Kelly Oubre started in his place, he only scored nine points but had a bigger impact than the box score suggests. John Wall and Bradley Beal led the way

Washington Wizards vs Miami Heat Takeaways

Washington, led by 20 points from Brad Beal and 13 points and 10 rebounds from Markieff Morris, defeated the Miami Heat 121-114 for their first preseason win. The Wizards offensive execution was much better against Miami then in their first preseason game against the Knicks. With John Wall (9 points, 9 assist, 5 rebounds) setting the tone early going out his way to find teammates, passing became contagious for Washington. The result was a fairly efficient night as the Wizards

Washington overcomes late game adversity to even the series

The Washington Wizards did their part and took care of their home court, they beat the Toronto Raptors 106-98 to even the first round series at 2-2. The Wizards overcame some adversity in doing so, they played the last five minutes of the game without Bradley Beal and he had scored a team high 31 points. They also overcame an extremely subpar first half in which they scored just 40 points, Washington outscored Toronto 66-47 in the second half. John Wall had 27 points and 14 a

Nuggets play spoiler on Chenier's big night

On what was a special night for the Washington Wizards franchise, the Denver Nuggets played the role of spoiler. Wizards great Phil Chenier was honored as he had his jersey raised to the rafters. It was well deserving and a long time coming, but this current Wizards team couldn't top the evening off with a win. Turnovers and general lack of urgency played a big role in their falling into a hole they just couldn't climb out of. Baltimore native Will Barton scored 14 of his 23

Wizards take season series with win over Pacers

After a dramatic double overtime victory against the Celtics on Wednesday, the Wizards came into Saturday night's game off two days rest and it showed. From beginning to end, the Wizards were energetic as they were controlling the pace on both ends, Victor Oladipo who had his way last matchup with a game high of 33, was only held to 18 in comparison and the Wizards were moving the ball well finishing with 29 assists on the night. The Wizards got a much needed win as the seaso

Beal goes for 30 as Washington holds off Miami in OT

Having lost their last three games, the Washington Wizards were definitely in need of a win badly last night when they hosted the Miami Heat. It wasn't easy, but Washington was able to eek out a 117-113 overtime win over their division foes. Bradley Beal had an extremely efficient night shooting the basketball, scoring 30 points on 12-of-16 shooting, including knocking down 6-of-7 three pointers. He also had seven assists and six rebounds, the negative were his four turnovers

Third quarter run leads Warriors past Wizards

The Washington Wizards fell to the reigning NBA champion Golden State Warriors 109-101 last night. It was a game of horrors for Bradley Beal as the Warriors made him a point of emphasis defensively. They passed him off from defender to defender and trapped him at times to get the ball out of his hands. On most occasions when it was just one-on-one, they played good defense both the person on the ball and from a help standpoint. Beal shot 3-of-15 and finished the game with eig

    Wizards Stop Sixers Streak

The Philadelphia 76ers brought their seven-game win streak into Washington on Sunday night looking to win the season series in front of a national television audience. Wizards All-Star guard Bradley Beal recognized the importance of the game and gave a warning to his team at halftime, up 67-48. “I told the guys at halftime this game isn’t over. They’ve shown all year that they can come back from 20-point deficits like it’s nothing,” Beal said after the team’s 109-94 win. Fitt

Kaminsky has big night as Washington falls to Charlotte

Both teams were on the second night of a back-to-back. Washington had just beat Cleveland on the road and Charlotte had taken care of the Nets at home. The Hornets had won the first two games of the season series with Washington, the Wizards were looking to get on the board in the series and a win over the Hornets would have put them past Cleveland for third place in the East. Frank Kaminsky scored 25 points, including knocking down six of nine shots from beyond the arc. Kemb

Wizards falter down the stretch, Boston wins in overtime

The Boston Celtics evened the season series with the Washington Wizards last night, with a 110-104 overtime victory. Washington didn't have the best of nights, but they had a chance to win it in regulation despite a turnover filled night. They also overcame a 7-of-27 shooting performance from their All-Star shooting guard Bradley Beal. Kyrie Irving led the Celtics with 28 points, Jaylen Brown had 18 and Marcus Morris scored 10 of his 15 points in the second half. Otto Porter

Free Throws The Difference Down The Stretch as Wizards Top Raptors

The Washington Wizards have made it two in a row, they beat the Toronto Raptors 122-119 last night just 48 hours after taking down the Oklahoma City Thunder. It was far from easy, but the Wizards made the plays they needed to make and more importantly, the free throws when needed. In a tight fourth quarter, Toronto shot just 6-of-10 from the line while Washington knocked down 11-of-12. The Wizards got a big game from Bradley Beal, he started slow but finished strong and had a

Antetokounmpo, Bledsoe lead Bucks past Wizards

The Milwaukee Bucks made sure that Washington's five game home stand ended the same way that it began, with a loss at their hands. Giannis Antetokounmpo had his first career 20-20 game, scoring 27 points and pulling down 20 rebounds. Eric Bledsoe delivered when needed late, finishing with 23 points. The Bucks beat the Wizards 104-95, Wall led the way with 27 points and 9 assists. Bradley Beal and Kelly Oubre had 19 points a piece, but turnovers is what really cost Washington.

Wizards avoid sweep, Wall closes out Brooklyn in OT

On Polish Heritage Night the Washington Wizards hosted the Brooklyn Nets in the last part of their season series. The Nets were looking to complete the clean sweep while the Wizards were looking to avoid such a fate. After building a 20 point lead in the first half, the Wizards relaxed and Brooklyn stormed back into the game in the third and fourth quarter. A big shot by Quincy Acy forced overtime and then Washington finally closed out the Nets. Credit Brooklyn for playing in

Wall gets hot late, turnovers too much to overcome in loss to Utah

The Washington Wizards were looking to get back on track, hosting the Utah Jazz in the second game of their five game home stand. The Jazz had yet to win a game in 2018, but that changed last night with a 107-104 win over the Wizards. Washington had more than it's fair amount of chances in this one, they owned the largest lead of the game at one point, 12. Even owning an 8 point lead early in the third quarter, also regaining the lead with 2:31 left in the game. But they woul

WALL’S DEFENSE SPARKS RALLY, BEAL GETS HOT LATE AS WIZARDS TOP BULLS

The Washington Wizards had a big opportunity before them on New Years Eve. After turning in a great performance against the Houston Rockets on Friday night, they hosted the Chicago Bulls. On the surface, Chicago may not seem like a test for a team like the Wizards, but the Bulls have been one of the hottest teams in the league since the return of Nikola Mirotic, with a record of 10-5 in the month of December. A sub .500 team seemed like the perfect opponent for the Wizards, t

Washington turned in one of their better performances in rout of Houston

Inconsistency is the theme for this year's Washington Wizards. A couple of nights after their loss to the 9-25 Atlanta Hawks, the Wizards hosted the Houston Rockets on Friday night. Everyone was wondering which Wizards team would show up, the one that beat the Celtics in Boston or the one that lost to the lowly Atlanta Hawks. It was the "good" Wizards that showed up, they beat the Rockets soundly, 121-103. Otto Porter Jr had himself a night, scoring 29 points while knocking

Wall returns, Beal has big fourth quarter as Wizards beat Grizzlies

Washington ended a back-to-back and began a homestand in the same night. After losing in Brooklyn the night before, the Wizards rebounded with a 93-87 win over the Memphis Grizzlies. They were on the road for 10 days and several of the players looked the part in the first half, but John Wall (13 points) made his return and subsequently gave his team a boost despite being a bit rusty at the start. The Wizards held a 17-point lead at one point, but as has been the case this sea
