Wizards move Porter, Morris in two separate deals

As the trade deadline approaches, the Washington Wizards were quite busy last night. With news of the Wall injury (ruptured achilles) coming out recently, it's not surprising that their former stance of keeping their core three (Wall, Beal, Porter)has evidently changed. Prior to the start of last night's loss to Milwaukee, the team let Otto know he wouldn't be playing during pregame warmups as he would be part of a trade that evening. Following the game, the Wizards made anot

Irving, Wall duel as Boston outlasts Washington in OT

Kyrie Irving and John Wall were sensational in overtime. Boston started the period on a 7-1 run, but as had been the case most of the night, Washington responded. Kelly Oubre hit a triple to give the Wizards a 121-120 lead with 1:33 left. Irving hit two free throws as Boston regained the lead, but Markieff Morris scored for Washington. Down one and heavily guarded by Wall, Kyrie hit a very tough three pointer over John in front of the Boston bench. Wall responded with another

Wizards overcome slow start and Harden's 54 to beat Houston in OT

It took four quarters, then an extra period for the Washington Wizards to top the Houston Rockets 135-131. Similar to the win over the Clippers, the Wizards had to overcome a slow start before clawing their way back into the game by the half. James Harden and Eric Gordon had huge nights, scoring 54 and 36 respectively. They shot a combined 15-of-31 from deep, including several shots with defenders hands in their faces. It wasn't enough as John Wall scored 36 points, Bradley B

Defense the difference as Wizards rally from 24 down to top Clippers

It’s been a tough few days for John Wall and the Washington Wizards, the franchise point guard has taken some public heat about the team’s poor play. Several national and local reports about friction in team practices and more insinuating about the team being sick of one another. The Wizards came into last night’s game at 5-11 hosting what was one of the hottest teams in the league, the Los Angles Clippers. After giving up 40 points in the first quarter, Washington found them

Nuggets play spoiler on Chenier's big night

On what was a special night for the Washington Wizards franchise, the Denver Nuggets played the role of spoiler. Wizards great Phil Chenier was honored as he had his jersey raised to the rafters. It was well deserving and a long time coming, but this current Wizards team couldn't top the evening off with a win. Turnovers and general lack of urgency played a big role in their falling into a hole they just couldn't climb out of. Baltimore native Will Barton scored 14 of his 23

Towns provides the dagger as Washington's rally falls short

The Wizards lost a tough one last night, in the closing seconds. Karl-Anthony Towns and the Minnesota Timberwolves rallied and held on to beat the Washington Wizards 116-111. KAT had a huge night, scoring 37 points and grabbing 10 rebounds on 13-of-17 shooting. He was an issue for Washington all game, but it wasn't just him. The Wizards surrendered 64 points in the paint, they didn't do a good job of keeping perimeter players out of the paint. Washington did get big nights ou

Third quarter run leads Warriors past Wizards

The Washington Wizards fell to the reigning NBA champion Golden State Warriors 109-101 last night. It was a game of horrors for Bradley Beal as the Warriors made him a point of emphasis defensively. They passed him off from defender to defender and trapped him at times to get the ball out of his hands. On most occasions when it was just one-on-one, they played good defense both the person on the ball and from a help standpoint. Beal shot 3-of-15 and finished the game with eig

Kaminsky has big night as Washington falls to Charlotte

Both teams were on the second night of a back-to-back. Washington had just beat Cleveland on the road and Charlotte had taken care of the Nets at home. The Hornets had won the first two games of the season series with Washington, the Wizards were looking to get on the board in the series and a win over the Hornets would have put them past Cleveland for third place in the East. Frank Kaminsky scored 25 points, including knocking down six of nine shots from beyond the arc. Kemb

Wizards falter down the stretch, Boston wins in overtime

The Boston Celtics evened the season series with the Washington Wizards last night, with a 110-104 overtime victory. Washington didn't have the best of nights, but they had a chance to win it in regulation despite a turnover filled night. They also overcame a 7-of-27 shooting performance from their All-Star shooting guard Bradley Beal. Kyrie Irving led the Celtics with 28 points, Jaylen Brown had 18 and Marcus Morris scored 10 of his 15 points in the second half. Otto Porter

Free Throws The Difference Down The Stretch as Wizards Top Raptors

The Washington Wizards have made it two in a row, they beat the Toronto Raptors 122-119 last night just 48 hours after taking down the Oklahoma City Thunder. It was far from easy, but the Wizards made the plays they needed to make and more importantly, the free throws when needed. In a tight fourth quarter, Toronto shot just 6-of-10 from the line while Washington knocked down 11-of-12. The Wizards got a big game from Bradley Beal, he started slow but finished strong and had a

Wizards show great fight in win over Thunder

In their first game after finding out John Wall would be out for 6-8 weeks, the Washington Wizards came out and earned a hard fought win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. For possibly the first time this season, the Wizards played with the type of hunger and effort that was indicative of their success last season. These two teams met last week in Oklahoma City and the Thunder won at home. The Wizards got a chance to avenge that loss and did so last night with a 102-96 win. Otto

Satoransky has career night in win over Pistons

Wizards guard Tomas Satoransky sets up the offense against the Pistons The Washington Wizards got back into the win column by beating the Detroit Pistons last night, 109-91. They used a 17-0 run in the third quarter to create separation. Outscoring the Pistons 35-15 in the period, they did it by playing defense and just flat out playing hard. Detroit Head Coach Stan Van Gundy said the Wizards "played harder" than his team after the game. Bradley Beal scored just 10 points, ye

Washington Wizards Training Camp- Final Notes

It's been an eventful week getting to know the new look Washington Wizards and learning what expectation's both individually for the players and team wise that new head coach Scott Brooks has overall. While there is a relative youth movement with the Wizards, Brooks is expecting the young players to learn, adapt and produce like a veteran. Without that production, it will put more pressure on John Wall, who is still working his way back from off season knee surgery, Brad Beal
