GW Men's Routs Gannon 92-47


Sophomore forward Yuta Watanabe finished with a game high 15 points in George Washington's win

Five Colonials finished in double figures led by sophomore forward Yuta Watanbe game high 15 points (4 of 7 FG) in a convincing 92-47 win over Gannon University (DII) in exhibition play. GW used a full court trap from the start of the game to pressure Gannon into turnovers early and often, which helped the Colonials build a double digit lead and they never looked back. Watanabe was impressive, adding 6 rebounds and 2 steals while grad student Alex Mitola (13 points/ 3 of 7- 3FG ), senior point guard Joe Mcdonald ( 12 points and 3 rebounds), sophomore point guard Paul Jorgensen ( 12 points and 5 rebounds) and freshman guard Jordan Roland ( 10 points and 2 steals) all had huge impacts in the win. Freshman guard CJ Asuncion-Byrd led Gannon with 13 points. GW forced Gannon into 29 turnovers and 33 percent shooting for the game.

GW opens the 15-16 season Friday November 16th at 7pm against Lafayette.
