Ako Adams Takes Over Late Leading O'Connell To A 82-73 Win Over Bishop McNamara

Rice commit Ako Adams finished with a game high 20 points in a comeback victory over McNamara.

After McNamara jumped out to a 24-11 first quarter lead, those in attendance assumed another victory was inevitable as McNamara was scoring at will and only center Nate Watson was able produce any offense for O'Connell. Then O'Connell turned up the defensive intensity in the second quarter using that to spark their comeback. O'Connell, with the inside play of Watson and second half heroics of senior guard Ako Adams, would outscore McNamara 71 to 49 after the first quarter winning 82-73. Adams and Watson were unstoppable, combining for 38 of O'Connell's 82 points with Watson also pulling down a game high 10 rebounds. McNamara junior guard Jamir Moultrie led the Mustangs with 18 points while senior forward Sam Green added 14 points of his own. McNamara had many chances to stop the bleeding, however costly turnovers and defensive breakdowns late in the game sealed their fate.

McNamara will take on Eleanor Roosevelt Saturday at 3:45pm at DeMatha Catholic High School

O'Connell will hit the road as well to take on Bishop Ireton Sunday at 3:45pm
