Slam Dunk To The Beach (Day Two) - Paul VI vs Roselle Catholic


Paul VI senior guard VJ King scored a game high 28 points to help hand Roselle Catholic their first loss of the season

It was a game that had local and national implications as Paul VI took on Roselle Catholic. Roselle led by their talented three guard attack of Leondre Washington (12 points,), Nathaniel Pierre Louis (17 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals) and Matt Bullock (18 points and 9 rebounds) came out hot, outscoring Paul VI to give Roselle a 20-12 lead. In the second, Paul VI came to life offensively. Guards VJ King and Myles Douglas would combine for 19 of Paul VI 30 points points as they cut the lead heading into halftime to four, trailing 34-30. In the second half, Louisville commit VJ King put on a shooting exhibition, scoring 15 of his game high 28 points while also grabbing a game high 10 rebounds to lead Paul VI to 68-58 win over Roselle Catholic. King shot 8-17 from the field, 2-4 from 3-point range and 10-11 from the free throw line. Paul VI outscored Roselle Catholic 38-24 in the second half thanks in part to their defense holding Roselle to 31% shooting. Paul VI senior forward and Pitt commit Corey Manigault outplayed Roselles highly touted sophomore Naz Reid, finishing with 14 points and 8 rebounds while athletic forwards Myles Douglas and Brandon Slater both added 10 points respectively.

Roselle Catholic will take on Bishop McNamara Tuesday at 1:30 pm while Paul VI will travel to take on St Mary's Ryken Saturday January 2nd at 6pm.
