Bishop McNamara sophomore guard Aliyah Matharu (20 points- game high) tried valiantly to carry the Lady Mustangs to victory

In a hard fought close contest that came down to the wire, Riverdale Baptist Lady Crusaders held on to defeat Bishop McNamara Lady Mustangs 50-45 in front of a raucous crowd at Prince Georges Community College. Riverdale Baptist led 24-18 at the half and appeared too big for for McNamara, that's when sophomore guard Aliyah Matharu came alive. Matharu (20 points) would help the Lady Mustangs outscore the Lady Crusaders in the third quarter to keep McNamara close. However, the stellar shooting from Riverdale Baptist senior guard Jalynn Holmes (14 points) and defensive dominance by sophomore forward Jennifer Ezeh (15 rebounds) proved to be too much. Riverdale Baptist improved to 5-1 while Bishop McNamara fell to 1-1.

Riverdale Baptist took advantage of a limited Bishop McNamara team playing without it's senior leader and leading scorer Jamir Moultrie by cruising to a 64-45 win. Senior guard Deion Hammond led the Crusaders with a game high 20 points while sophomore point guard Jonathan McGriff paced the Mustangs with 14 points respectively. Riverdale Baptist was relentless on both ends of the floor, using their length and athleticism to frustrate the Mustangs defensively and attacking the basket on offense. The assault on the basket resulted in the Crusaders shooting 47 free throws in which they converted 38 while the Mustangs shot 27 for the game making 13. Riverdale Baptist defense held Bishop McNamara's dangerous sophomore trio Jonathan McGriff, Makhi Mitchell (7 points) and Makhel Mitchell (10 points) in check for the majority of the game. Donvann Toatley and Ayan Teel added 13 and 12 points for the Crusaders. Riverdale Baptist improved to 8-1 while Bishop McNamara fell to 0-2.
