2014-2015 College Basketball Spotlight- Virginia Guard Malcolm Brogdon

By Cardell Dudley

With the 2014-2015 college season upon us, it's only right to give our two cents on who you should keep an eye on throughout the college hoops landscape in the DMV. With the rise of so many local programs such as Towson and George Washington to go along with traditional powers like Georgetown and Maryland, college basketball throughout the DMV may be the deepest its ever been. Let us begin........

Malcolm Brogdon

Virginia Cavaliers

Junior Guard 6'5 217

If there was an x-factor for the 30 win ACC regular season and Tournament champion Virginia Cavaliers, all votes would go towards the Cavs versatile guard Malcolm Brogdon. Brogdon led the team in scoring at 12.7 points per game while also contributing 5.4 rebounds, 2.7 assist and 1.2 steals per game. The All ACC First Team selection was also the ONLY ACC player to score in double figures in all 18 ACC regular season games. Brogdon's clutch shooting, stellar all around play and ball hawking defense became a pleasant surprise for Cavaliers coach Tony Bennett and a headache for opponents. With the loss of NBA draft pick Joe Harris and forward Akil Mitchell, Brogdon will be looked upon to raise his game even higher. With the explosion he had last season, I wouldn't bet against him.
