In a exciting match-up of two of the more quality programs at the D-I and D-II level from the state of Maryland, Bowie State traveled to take on the Maryland Terrapins. The Bulldogs who are the preseason CIAA North number one ranked team came in with an upset on their mind, it didn't come close to being that type of outcome. Maryland hounded Bowie State into 4-34 first half shooting to take a 48-15 lead, led by Terrapin forward Jake Layman 13 point 7 rebound first half performance. In the second half, Bowie State settled in a bit and executed better on the offensive end, however, it was more of the same for Maryland. Freshman Dion Wiley (13 points) and Jared Nickens (12 points) joined Layman in finishing off Bowie State 89-47. Jake Layman led Maryland with 18 points and 7 rebounds while Bowie State guard Justin Beck led the Bulldogs with 10 points and 6 rebounds. Maryland will next take on Wagner while Bowie State will travel to take on Millersville in their respective season openers.
