The atmosphere was electric, as the highly anticipated debut of the George Washington men's basketball team was finally here. In front of a amped up crowd of 3,446, GW showcased a new banner commemorating the teams 2014 NCAA Tournament appearance. Then it was time to get down to business and GW wasted no time. From tipoff to start the game, star guard Patricio Garino took the ball and in stride threw a lob to fellow junior guard Kethan Savage for a vicious dunk that blew the roof off of the Charles E. Smith Center. From then on, it was a record tying onslaught that didn't end until the final buzzer. Garino would lead GW with 21 points on 8-10 shooting while junior forward/center Kevin Larsen contributed 15 points and a game high nine rebounds to push GW to a 92-40 rout over Grambling State. The win tied GW's largest ever margin of victory against a D-1 opponent. Explosive junior guard Kethan Savage in his first game action since January 18th, finished with 12 points and a game high five assist. GW will go on the road to face Rutgers on Sunday at 7pm.
