Dez Wells Clutch Tip-In Lifts Maryland Over Northwestern 68-67

By Cardell Dudley

It wasn't the ideal way to win for the Terps, especially against a 10-10 team however the Terps will take it. After trailing for the majority of the game, the Terps led by stud freshman Melo Trimble (27 points/3 assist) and veteran guard Dez Wells (17 points 6-10FG) closed the game on a 16-4 run including the game winning tip-in from Wells with 1.4 seconds left, to survive a scare from Northwestern 68-67. The win put Maryland at 18-3 (6-2) Big Ten and helped the Terps avoid their first losing streak of the season. Northwestern was led by guard Bryant McIntosh 21 points and 3 assist while sophomore forward Sanjay Lumpkin added 12 points and 6 rebounds off the bench. Check out the clutch tip in from Wells below.
