In a game that was billed as the "Game of the season in the A-10" George Washington sent a loud and clear message that they are indeed the team to beat in the A-10. Led by junior center Jonquel Jones (18 points, 18 rebounds, 3 assist) and sophomore Caira Washington (11 points, 10 rebounds,2 steals), GW behind a stifling defense, walked away winners over Dayton 67-56 to push their win streak to 19 straight. The game was back and forth with five ties halfway through the first half, thanks to the efforts of Dayton star and reigning A-10 Player of the Year Andrea Hoover (16 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assist) however, GW sparked by a Jones 3-pointer, would go on a 11-0 run at the 10:44 mark and would never look back. GW senior guard who did a job on Hoover defensively, holding her to 7-18 shooting finished the game with 9 points, 6 assist and 5 rebounds while freshman Brianna Cummings and sophomore Hannah Schaible contributed 7 points and 5 assist and 8 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assist and 2 steals respectively. GW dominated the boards, outrebounding Dayton 57-36 which was key to their game breaking runs that pushed the lead to as much as 19 points mid way through the second half. The 56 points were a season low for the Flyers who shot just 28% in the second half and 32% in the game. GW will face St Louis Wednesday at 8pm.
