CCBC Catonsville Holds On Against PGCC 92-82


It was a physical MD Juco match-up between Prince Georges Community College (1-3/0-1) and CCBC Catonsville (1-5/1-0) that went down to the wire before Catonsville closed things out, winning 92-82 to capture their first win of the season. CCBC Catonsville was led by freshman point guard Montague Wright Jr who finished with 32 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assist and ONE turnover while freshman forward Asante Galloway added 10 points and 8 rebounds. Catonsville jumped out to a 10-2 lead thanks to efficient shooting and a stingy team defense that held PGCC to 1 of 6 shooting and two turnovers to start the game, however, PGCC would fight back. Led by sophomore forward Patrick Johnson-Agwu 18 point and 8 rebound first half, PGCC would keep the game close as they trailed 44-36 at the half. The second half would bring a back an forth affair to start, before PGCC led by sophomore guard Lavonte Sanders 11 points, 4 rebound and 3 assist second half would cut the lead to two, trailing 80-78 with 3:08 left in the game. Catonsville would prove to be too much down the stretch as they pulled away late thanks to Wrights 16 points on 10 of 11 shooting from the free throw line to win. Johnson-Agwu finished with 24 points and 11 rebounds while Sanders added 15 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assist.

CCBC Catonsville will host Montgomery College next Tuesday November 24, at 7pm while PGCC will play host as well to visiting Westmoreland County Community College Saturday Nov 21, at 4pm.
