HD Woodson celebrates after winning the 2016 DCSAA Championship in a historic run
"Who do we gotta beat, Lebron and them now" was what HD Woodson sophomore guard Derquan Washington screamed out after helping lead Woodson to a DCSAA Championship with a 60-47 win over Friendship Collegiate. The win capped a 33-0 run for Woodson, the first DCIAA program to finish undefeated since the great Spingarn team did it back in 1985. The game was never in doubt as Woodson used their trademark suffocating pressure defense to hold Friendship Collegiate to 29 points through three quarters, while executing at will on offense. Senior forward and DCIAA Player of the Year Antwan Walker finished with a game high 19 points, capturing MVP honors, while sophomore guard Kiyon Boyd added 11 points. Friendship Collegiate point guard and Temple commit Alani Moore was held to 11 points while Emmanuel Johnson and LeAndre Thomas posted 11 and 10 points respectively.
