Anonymous survives the Huddle Show, advances to Finals

The first round of the 2017 P.I.T.S League started last night on both the mens and womens side of things. The first game of last night's double-header was Team Anonymous taking on the Huddle Show. It didn't look like it was going to be a classic finish at the start, but it was by the closing buzzer. Anon beat the Huddle Show 66-62 behind Asia's big night from behind the arc. She hit six triples en route to 29 points, Charli chipped in with 19 points as Anon rallied for the win. The Huddle Show was led by Ty's 18 points and Destiny's 13 points.

The Huddle Show got off to a great start, their defense led to easy offense. Ty and Keyanna used their length to get into the passing lanes and get deflections and steals. Nia, their floor general did a good job of running things in the half court, getting everyone involved in the exact spots in which they needed the ball. With neither team having a true post presence, the advantage in that department went to Huddle Show as their wings had great size. While those things seemed to put Team Anon on their heels early, they showed that they're a resilient team.

After going scoreless for close to three minutes, Asyja got hot for Anonymous, knocking down four triples in the first half. That loosened things up for her teammates, giving others more room to operate as she attracted a double-team late in the second quarter. The teams would trade baskets to close the half, neither team allowing themselves to get too far behind.

At the half it was Anonymous clinging to a hard earned 37-35 lead. Destiny led the way for the Huddle Show with 10 points and Asia led Anon with 16 points.

The third quarter was much of the seam as neither team could create much separation, but the size advantage for the Huddle Show started to rear it's head. They were getting extra possessions, which led to extra shots. Still the shot making of Anonymous and their newly active defense allowed them to hold a six point lead by the end of the third quarter.

Destiny picked off where Ty left off, she started the fourth by hitting a couple of tough shots to cut into the deficit. A triple from Brianey cut the lead to just three with 6:29 left in the contest. Good defense by Anon led to a Charli layup, giving them a little breathing room. It was taken away by a foul line jumper from Ty. With 3:08 left in the game, Anonymous held a 59-56 lead.

The Huddle Show ups the defensive pressure, swarming the perimeter and it paid off with an Anonymous pass going out of bounds. Unfortunately, the Huddle Show couldn't capitalize. On the ensuing possession, Anonymous did a much better job handling the heightened ball pressure from the Huddle Show. With 1:17 left in the game and possession of the ball, Anonymous held on to a four point lead.

Ty got a steal after the Anonymous timeout and took it down court for the easy two, cutting the deficit to just two.

Asia got fouled, went to the line and knocked down both to extend the lead back to four. The Huddle Show would respond once again, getting an easy two, once again cutting the deficit to two. This time Charli got fouled, like Asyja, she took care of business at the line. The next play down, a bang-bang call resulted in Keyanna going to the line. It could of been a block or a charge call, the official went with the charge call and she went to the line and knocked down both shots.

The Huddle Show set up their press, but this time Anon did a great job of breaking the press, three passes later resulted in a an easy layup for Asyja.
