LAST SECOND HEROICS LIFT BLUE COATS OVER GOGO

The Capital City GoGo drop a nail biter at home to the Delaware Blue Coats. A last second three by Marial Shayok negated a furious rally down the stretch from the GoGo. The Blue Coats looked to have the game in hand but the GoGo definitely made them earn their money last night.

The GoGo struggled to make shots from the outside for the first three and a half quarters of the game but found their stroke as they fought back from a 17 point deficit. London Perrantes was the driving force behind Capital City’s comeback as he scored all of his 12 points during the 25-8 run. The Blue Coats gave them a heavy dose of Christ Koumadje as he finished with a game high 22 points and added 12 rebounds. Koumadje was extremely disruptive on the defensive end. He dropped all way under the basket and dared the GoGo to take jump shots. And given how their evening was going, that was a recipe for disaster.

The first half was tightly contested with the Blue Coats taking a 53-50 lead into the locker room. Capital City came out flat in the third quarter and the Blue Coats took advantage.

Delaware used some hot shooting and ramped up their defensive pressure to extend the lead to 14 by quarter’s end. They would push the lead up to as much as 17. Marial Shayok finished with 19 points including the game winner and Justin Robinson added 17 against his former team.

Capital City falls to 21-20 as they set their sights on a playoff push. They will go on the road for a back to back against the Windy City Bulls and Wisconsin Herd. The GoGo have struggled on the road this year and facing the top team in the league on the second night of a back to back will be a tough test for them in the dog days of the season.
