Valkyries: Stephanie Talbot (Out/Quad), Cecilia Zandalasini (Out, Foot)
Keep An Eye on:
Mystics Ball Pressure and Pace: are things that can decide the game sooner than later for Washington. Defensively, getting after the Valkyries ball handlers right away should be the primary focus. Golden State comes into the game dead last in the WNBA in turnovers per game (20) and assists per game (13). The Valkyries also ranks at the bottom of the league in pace at 77.4, which ranks 11th in the WNBA. Washington thrives on an uptempo style offense and have a number of players that can get after opposing ball handlers effectively. Doing so can disrupt the Valkyries and put the Mystics in a great position to secure their third win of the season.
Mystics Perimeter Shooting: has been elite over their first two games....all wins. With Golden State coming in as one of the worse teams in defending the three (36.8% 3FG) and field goals overall (46% FG), it's ideal for Washington to be aggressive offensively throughout the game. The Mystics are deadly efficient and among the league leaders offensively. They're second in the WNBA in points per game (92.0), second in offensive rating (117.7), second in field goal percentage (51.2%), first in three point percentage (42.4%) and only turn the ball over 10.5 times per game, which ranks fourth in the W. Oh, did I mention they are tops in the WNBA in free throw makes per game (22.0) and free throw attempts per game (30.0)? Washington, have been a well oiled machine offensively to start the season and if they continue to execute the way they have, offensively, tonight should be a continuation of what they've shown over their first two games.
