George Washington center Rafael Castro dunks home two of his game high 26 points in a win for the Revolutionaries.
George Washington men’s basketball took care of business at home against La Salle, pulling away late for a conference win that pushed the Revolutionaries to 2–0 in the Atlantic 10 for the first time since the 2014–15 season. The game was tight well into the second half, with La Salle holding a 46–45 lead midway through the period, but GW’s depth, defense, and a dominant performance from Rafael Castro ultimately made the difference. Castro followed up his career night at Richmond with another monster outing, finishing with 26 points, 14 rebounds, four blocks, and three steals while controlling the paint on both ends. GW caught fire after halftime, shooting 61.5 percent in the second half and closing the game on a decisive 32–9 run while holding La Salle to just 33.3 percent shooting. Trey Autry added 17 points, Christian Jones chipped in 10 with four assists, and the Revolutionaries now turn the page quickly with a nationally televised matchup at Dayton on Tuesday night.
