George Washington Falls To Richmond In Double OT 98-90


GW junior forward Tyler Cavanaugh posted a monster double double with 16 points and 14 rebounds in the loss

After a sluggish start in which the Colonials allowed the Richmond Spiders to shoot 57% from the field and 60% from three in the first half, GW would fight back from 13 points down to force overtime thanks to a buzzer beating 3-pointer from sophomore guard Paul Jorgensen . After a back an forth first overtime in which the Spiders would need their own miracle three to force a second overtime, the Colonials finally ran out of gas, as Richmond behind junior point guard Shawndre Jones game high 29 points, walked out of the Smith Center victorious 98-90.

Junior forward Tyler Cavanaugh finished with 16 points and 14 rebounds while senior center Kevin Larsen posted 17 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assist. Senior guard Patricio Garino added 17 points and senior point guard Joe McDonald contributed 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively.

Richmond junior forward Marshall Wood finished with 22 points on a scorching 7 of 9 shooting from the field and 7 of 8 from 3-point range and grabbed 7 rebounds while freshman guard Khwan Fore scored 18 points off the bench and senior forward Terry Allen added 15 points.

The Spiders shot 60% from the field and 57% from three while the Colonials struggled shooting 37% from the field and 28% from three. GW fell to 15-5, 4-3 while Richmond improved to 11-8, 3-4 overall.

GW will take a short trip to take on George Mason Sunday at noon while the Spiders will take on St Bonaventure Sunday at 3pm.
